4.5. Public Transportation

Hel­sinki Re­gion Trans­port (HSL) spon­sors the event by pro­vid­ing the WG2015’s par­tic­i­pants and vol­un­teers, a free travel card for pub­lic trans­port in Hel­sinki (zone 1). Vol­un­teers work­ing out­side the Hel­sinki area (zone 1), for ex­am­ple at the Air­port in Van­taa (zone 2); and oth­ers who live / ac­com­mo­date in Es­poo, Van­taa or Kau­ni­ainen (zone 2) in ac­cred­i­ta­tion or­der, in these cases vol­un­teers travel card will be valid for both zones (1 and 2). All the other vol­un­teers will re­ceive a travel card only for Hel­sinki, re­gard­less of their place of res­i­dence.

Vol­un­teers will re­ceive their travel card and vol­un­teer pass at the same time. The travel card will be valid from 11th – 19th of July. More in­for­ma­tion about routes and trans­porta­tion within the met­ro­pol­i­tan area here.

Walk­ing routes will be marked to guide ev­ery­one from one place to an­other, these may be found all the way from the Olympic Sta­dium and Get to­gether area, the city cen­tre, to Mes­sukeskus Ex­hi­bi­tion and Con­ven­tion Cen­tre and to Ara­bi­an­ranta.

Dur­ing the event, vol­un­teers are ad­vised to al­ways use pub­lic trans­porta­tion, since park­ing space for cars is very lim­ited.
