Main venues of the World Gymnaestrada are within 2 km radius and therefore within walking distance from each other. Venues and city centre are also easily reached with public transportation from different parts of Helsinki. During the World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki all media representatives who need will receive a HSL Travel Card with the Media Card, which allows the media to use public transportation in Helsinki municipality. HSL tickets are valid on all buses, commuter trains, trams and Metro which operate in Helsinki zone. Also the Suomenlinna ferry is included in the HSL Travel Card.
Plan your routes with the Journey Planner.
We encourage media representatives to walk between the venues. The official walking routes between the venues will be marked during the event.
Transportation from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
It is recommended for the World Gymnaestrada media representatives to use public transportation when traveling from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to the city centre. Buses 615 and 620 offer a straight line from the Airport and the Helsinki city centre. New commuter train Ring Rail Line operates every 10 minutes and provides a rail link between Helsinki city center and Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
Find more information about the public transportation Airport connection from the HSL web page.
World Gymnaestrada volunteers will be helping all arriving Gymnaestrada participants at the Airport. The first ones you will be able to see are already by the baggage carousel at the baggage reclaim area. Volunteers will be ready to help you with any issue or question you might have. You’ll recognise them from their green WG2015 Volunteer shirts.
You can find the World Gymnaestrada info desk at the Airport. It is located between the arrivals halls 2A and 2B.
