Opening Ceremony, Midnight Sun Special and Closing Ceremony

Opening Ceremony

The Open­ing Cer­e­mony of the 15th World Gym­naestrada will take place on Sun­day 12th of July at the Hel­sinki Olympic Sta­dium at 16:00. Sev­eral sports fields will be used for gath­er­ing which starts at 14:00. March­ing in to the Olympic Sta­dium starts at 15:30.

Al­to­gether 19,000 gym­nasts will march in wear­ing their na­tional track­suits and each coun­try will fol­low their na­tional flag and name board. The par­tic­i­pants that will not be march­ing in, will be watch­ing the open­ing day pa­rade from the stands.

Af­ter the wel­come speeches and the hoist­ing of the flags of the FIG, the World Gym­naestrada and Fin­land, the fes­tive pro­gram be­gins with the theme Make the Earth Move. See the Open­ing Cer­e­mony pro­gram.

Af­ter the Open­ing Cer­e­mony, at about 18:00, the Get To­gether area will be open. The par­tic­i­pants will use pub­lic trans­porta­tion, when trav­el­ling to their ac­com­mo­da­tion.

Midnight Sun Special

This evening show of Large Group Per­for­mances is pre­sented for the first time in the World Gym­naestrada 2015 Hel­sinki. The Mid­night Sun Spe­cial will take place on Wednes­day 15th of July at the Hel­sinki Olympic Sta­dium at 21:00 – 22:30.

The Mid­night Sun Spe­cial evening is in­spired by the light Finnish sum­mer nights and is a trib­ute to the Large Group Per­for­mances. The magic of these “night­less nights” cre­ates a unique plat­form for Large Group Per­for­mances, which are per­formed by six coun­tries in ad­di­tion to the World Team. Af­ter the Mid­night Sun Spe­cial there are some LOC buses to cer­tain dis­tant schools where pub­lic trans­port is lim­ited. These buses are pri­mar­ily meant for chil­dren and se­niors.

Gymnaestrada World Team Large Group Performance

Pre­sented for the first time in the World Gym­naestrada 2015 Hel­sinki. Gym­nasts from all over the world and of all age groups have had the pos­si­bil­ity to be a part of the Gym­naestrada World Team and to par­tic­i­pate in an in­ter­na­tional Large Group Pro­gram. The Gym­nastrada World Team has been cre­ated to of­fer the pos­si­bil­ity and the ex­pe­ri­ence of a large group per­for­mance for all par­tic­i­pants all over the world. The hap­pi­ness and the friend­ship will be seen in this pro­gram named “Near of Far – Come as You are!

Closing Ceremony

The Clos­ing Cer­e­mony of the 15th World Gym­naestrada will take place on Sat­ur­day 18th of July at the Hel­sinki Olympic Sta­dium at 15:00.

The fan­tas­tic gym­nas­tics week cul­mi­nates to the Clos­ing Cer­e­mony of the World Gym­naestrada 2015 Hel­sinki, which will gather all of the friends of gym­nas­tic one more time to the his­tor­i­cal Hel­sinki Olympic Sta­dium. The Clos­ing Cer­e­mony of­fers grand spirit and a sur­prise pro­gram ac­com­pa­nied by Finnish mu­sic.

The In­ter­na­tional Large Group Pro­gram per­formed by the Gym­naestrada World Team will be seen at the fes­tive show and these per­form­ing gym­nasts are in­vited back­stage at 13:30. The Lo­cal Or­gan­is­ing Com­mit­tee is keep­ing the other part of the pro­gramme a se­cret.

The Clos­ing Cer­e­mony will be the end of the mem­o­rable fes­ti­val week. Af­ter­wards the party will go on at the Get To­gether area and the younger par­tic­i­pants can dance the evening away in the disco at the Töölö Sports Hall.
