4.5. Public Transportation



Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) sponsors the event by providing the WG2015’s participants and volunteers, a free travel card for public transport in Helsinki (zone 1). Volunteers working outside the Helsinki area (zone 1), for example at the Airport in Vantaa (zone 2); and others who live / accommodate in Espoo, Vantaa or Kauniainen (zone 2) in accreditation order, in these cases volunteers travel card will be valid for both zones (1 and 2). All the other volunteers will receive a travel card only for Helsinki, regardless of their place of residence.
Volunteers will receive their travel card and volunteer pass at the same time. The travel card will be valid from 11th – 19th of July. More information about routes and transportation within the metropolitan area here.
Walking routes will be marked to guide everyone from one place to another, these may be found all the way from the Olympic Stadium and Get together area, the city centre, to Messukeskus Exhibition and Convention Centre and to Arabianranta.
During the event, volunteers are advised to always use public transportation, since parking space for cars is very limited.
